Our intermediate youth drama group is aimed at 11 – 14 year old students (secondary school age children) and we cover all aspects of theatre. It is held on Saturday afternoons at 2.30pm – 4pm at Droylsden Little Theatre. This is a welcoming, friendly group and they are always willing to pull together and work as a team.

Students enjoy workshops based on improvisation, devising, script work and physical theatre. We aim to celebrate unique talents and build on those.

We usually take part in one act play festivals and do two shows a season. We have also taken on board other projects, like putting on entertainment for Droylsden Little Theatre social nights. The group recently enjoyed doing a murder mystery evening, which was well received and a great experience for the students.

Our project plus group is aimed at year 10 and above and will zoom in on certain areas of drama in greater depth. This group will have a termly project focus and will suit those students who are keen to enhance their skills further. Perhaps they are studying drama at school or college, maybe they wish to pursue a career in drama. This will gear our students up for the next level of their journey.

We will always discuss our students’ needs in order to build on existing skills. However, some of our projects may include…

Audition skills for plays and musicals, drama schools. We will work on monologue choices, voice work, characterisation, line delivery, use of space, self taping. There will also be showcase opportunities.

There will be an option to take a Trinity exam, as an add on, a recognised, qualification that carries UCAS points at the higher levels, so we work closely with this syllabus.

Acting for camera– working towards an on screen project and making a show reel. Again there will be an optional add on of a Trinity exam in this.

Exploring scripts– with a chance to perform

Devising projects– with a chance to perform

Physical theatre projects

One Act Play Festivals

We are hoping to invite some guest tutors in from time to time to cover accents, stage combat and more.

We offer a free taster session so you can come along and give it a try – get in touch to arrange a taster session.

Our children’s drama group is held on Saturdays 1pm – 2pm at Droylsden Little Theatre and is aimed at 6-11 year old students (primary school age children). It’s a great way of learning new drama skills, alongside making new friends and building confidence. There is always a chance to take part in live performance and learn other backstage and technical roles. We aim to bring out the best in your child and celebrate their unique talents as well as giving them the opportunity to try their hand at new things.
