Description
Arts Award offers a fantastic creative journey, which helps students discover art in all forms. Predominantly Manchester Theatre Academy is drama based but we explore all areas. Arts Award Explore, is aimed at children aged 7 and above and is based on 25 hours of learning. We will set challenges for example-
- Making a theatre set from a shoebox
- performing a monologue
- creating a mask
- Exploring an artist and an arts organisation
- A larger arts project- a Zoom play, a puppet show, creating a piece of visual art.
We provide videos and online resources, examples from fellow students, Zoom sessions and more to help young people complete their Arts Award, build confidence and feel part of something. Trinity College London will moderate the work. The students will then receive a certificate.

During this current climate, Arts Award courses will be completely digital. There will be some one to one sessions where required and direct contact with your fully qualified Arts Award Advisor. The course is fairly flexible in terms of time but we usually recommend 20 guided hours on this. Up to twelve weeks is a good time scale for this but if it’s slightly less or over, that’s fine.

Children’s Drama Group

The options may be chosen on the product pageOur children’s drama group is held on Saturday afternoons at Droylsden Little Theatre and is aimed at 6-10 year old students (primary school age children). It’s a great way of learning new drama skills, alongside making new friends and building confidence. There is always a chance to take part in live performance and learn other backstage and technical roles.
